About Mark

Mark Collins runs Weald Web from his home in the heart of the Sussex Weald.

He has spent his working life in the Information Technology industry since graduating from Surrey University with a BSc degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and a MSc degree in Satellite Communications Engineering in the 1980s.

His early career involved developing advanced numerical analysis applications in the Fortran and C programming languages. Later work was on VAX VMS computers used in emergency services control rooms controlling telephone, radio and data systems.

Moving through systems analysis, business analysis and the management of large and complex information technology environments, Mark remains passionate about technology and its use to generate value for organisations. Mark particularly enjoys helping customers to think through their business challenges and to work with them to put in place pragmatic and effective solutions that work for them.

Although reaching the senior level of Systems Director, Mark has maintained his hands on development and analysis skills and migrated to modern web languages and approaches, in particular PHP, XML, XHTML and CSS.

Mark enjoys producing clean, standards compliant code which produces attractive, accessible and easy to use web sites.
